IIoT edge network for a global Smart Factory solution
Microland’s expertise in IIoT and Edge networks consolidated data from disparate manufacturing sites to enable analytics and improve operational performance for a Fortune 500 company
Microland created a robust IIoT Edge network that connected the assets from 20+ sites across three continents to the client’s Brilliant Manufacturing Solution.
â–² Factory Visibility
â–² Improved Mean Time to Detection (MTTD)
â–² Increased Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)
Client
The client is a US-based Fortune 500 conglomerate with manufacturing operations spread across three continents and revenue of over $100 billion.
Business Goal
The client has manufacturing facilities across sectors like Power (nine sites), Healthcare (eight sites), Aviation (two sites) and Transportation (one site). Each site has diverse assets and environments. The client wanted to establish an Edge network that would fetch real time data from all the sites to its central Brilliant Manufacturing solution.
Microland Solution
Microland designed and deployed the protocol tunnel for data acquisition. The data was collected from varied systems like Industrial Control Systems (ICS), Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA), Distributed Control System (DCS), Historian and other legacy systems. The Microland solution also enabled the centralization of asset data.
Business Outcomes
By leveraging Microland’s industrial domain expertise and knowledge of Smart Factory platforms the client is now able to:
- Gain better control over output through centralize monitoring and aggregate data for analytical insights
- Increase operational efficiency by reducing time to respond to issues
- Increase Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) with real time monitoring and analytics
