NextGen Citizen Services for a Smart Grid Program by a Global Utilities Service Provider

The customer was seeking a solution to integrate several software products in the smart energy space, automate data collection from smart electric meters and drive insights on power consumption & load prediction for smart grids in order to formulate a dedicated strategy for peak load management.

Microland co-developed an energy consumption monitoring solution which connects thousands of residential and commercial smart meters to ingest energy consumption data. Utilities team can leverage these dashboards to keep track of consumption patters and continued meter health.

The solution uses this data to identify consumption patterns based on multiple factors including geography, weather, commercial VS residential, time of day and further uses this data to predict peak load patterns to manage energy efficiently.

Microland has engaged in a co-creation model with this customer. Microland's resources are part of the customer's extended product team.

The solution is built on the PTC ThingWorx Solution Stack. The solution also leverages ML/AI for identifying consumption patterns and peak load predictions  (ARIMA/ SARIMA/ Prophet based models).

Outcomes

- Microland co-created a solution that is used for the 1st Smart Grid in India

- Led to 4% decrease in transformer failures, covers 22000 consumers so far
