Hybrid Cloud-Led IT Transformation for a Global Aviation Leader

Hybrid Cloud-Led IT Transformation for a Leading U.S. Global Aviation Company

About Client

A leading global aviation company and one of the world's largest providers of aircraft engines for commercial and government sectors, operating across 82 locations in 19 countries. Following a corporate divestiture, the organization was required to rapidly establish an independent IT infrastructure while maintaining business continuity across manufacturing facilities, R&D centers, warehouses, and engineering sites. The transformation was further challenged by aggressive transition timelines, limited knowledge transfer, and a highly complex global technology landscape.

Key Challenges

  • Accelerated TSA Exit Requirements: The organization had to meet stringent transition and separation deadlines while rebuilding critical IT infrastructure with minimal support from the parent company.
  • Global Operational Complexity: Supporting 82 sites across 19 countries required seamless integration of IT and OT environments across manufacturing, engineering, warehouse, and research operations.
  • Diverse and Legacy Technology Landscape: The environment consisted of HCI and HPC clusters, legacy RISC systems, AWS Storage Gateways, multiple hardware vendors, varied operating systems, and hybrid cloud platforms, demanding coordinated migration and management strategies.
  • Limited Automation and Operational Efficiency: Dependence on legacy tools and manual processes increased deployment cycles, operational overhead, and configuration management risks.
  • Strict Regulatory Compliance: Compliance requirements including CMMC, ITAR, and export control regulations mandated secure infrastructure, workforce controls, data sovereignty, and governance standards.

Solution

Microland implemented a hybrid cloud-led IT transformation program designed to support the TSA exit while modernizing the client's global infrastructure estate. The solution included:

  • Establishment of a compliance-aligned delivery model, leveraging a CMMC-certified U.S. facility staffed with export-control compliant personnel, complemented by global delivery capabilities for scale and operational efficiency.
  • Deployment of a hybrid cloud operating framework, supported by cross-functional infrastructure teams and ITIL-based service management practices to standardize operations across diverse technology environments.
  • Introduction of an AIOps-driven observability platform using Microland's intelligeni suite for real-time monitoring, intelligent analytics, automated remediation, patching, and capacity management.
  • Toolset consolidation and rationalization to simplify operations, improve governance, and optimize resource utilization across the enterprise.
  • Development of a GenAI-powered Infrastructure-as-Code provisioning engine with conversational self-service capabilities, enabling faster infrastructure deployment and operational agility.

Business Value Delivered

The transformation enabled the client to successfully establish an independent, resilient, and scalable IT environment while maintaining uninterrupted global operations during the divestiture process. Key business outcomes included:

  • 99.9% service availability through automation-led operations and proactive monitoring.
  • 25% reduction in Mean Time to Resolution (MTTR) through AI-powered automation and intelligent incident management.
  • 20% faster self-service provisioning, accelerating infrastructure deployment and improving user productivity.
  • $10 million in cost savings achieved through automation, tool consolidation, and optimization of operating expenses over the contract term.
  • A modernized hybrid cloud foundation that enhanced operational resilience, compliance readiness, scalability, and long-term digital transformation capabilities.
