Microland’s Net Brahma Technologies to get acquired by US based Metro-Optix

NBT’s IP expertise to kick-start Metro-Optix’ Indian R&D operations

Microland Limited (www.microland.co.in), today announced that it has signed an MoU to divest complete stake in its group company Net Brahma Technologies to Metro-Optix (www.metro-optix.com), a US based telecommunications optical networking equipment provider, subject to necessary share-holder and regulatory approvals. Metro-Optix has decided to leverage the technical expertise and intellectual property developed by Net Brahma to kick-start its India Engineering Center.

Announcing this development, Pradeep Kar, Chairman & Managing Director, Microland Group, commented, “In a short span of 18 months, Net Brahma has evolved from a networking software services provider to being a leading IP led products company that has built a number of protocol stacks in the areas of MPLS, BGP4, DiffServ, MGCP, MEGAGO and SIP. Rated as one of Top 50 private technology companies by Red Herring Magazine, Metro-Optix is lowering the cost per bit of the metropolitan optical networking segment by delivering service providers a next generation “protocol agile” bandwidth manager called CityStream.

Net Brahma, a Microland Group company launched in July 2000, focuses on providing software blocks for next generation equipment makers. The company has provided custom engineering software services in the areas of routing, tunneling, SNMP, traffic engineering to several leading US equipment makers. Net Brahma has also built protocol stacks in the areas of MPLS, BGP4, DiffServ, MGCP, MEGAGO and SIP.
