Microland Digital Warriors | 71 © MICROLAND LIMITED 2020. Internal Circulation Only 70 When you bot it, you flaunt it! Some obsessions can do a ton of good. Much like Vishal’s fascination with the world of bots. Call it “utility focused botization”, Vishal’s bot agenda was to create automation solutions that were customer centric. But having gone down that path, he realized that customization compromised on standardization, that in turn led to redundant repetition. This was contrary to what the bot model wanted to achieve. And thus was born MicroBots. It all started with a quest to identify a software that could do all the process automation needed. He found his answer in Ansible which he used to script 63 bots on the MicroBot platform—across cloud, network, windows and UNIX, piecing together a 6-member team that he headed. Targeting over a dozen marquee customers for whom we plan to deploy nearly 40 bots, Vishal and his team have already tasted success with 2 customers. The value realized for them: Increased efficiency resulting in significant margin improvement and a drop in human errors. MicrBots are all about doing more with less and for the client-leaders it is a great tool that makes them look good. The “automation index” is becoming very important in every shared services conversation and MicroBots help move that needle. Vishal was someone who suggested the idea of automating repetitive tasks way back in 2010 when he joined the company. MicroBots are a natural evolution of the automation transformation sweeping Microland. And what motivated him? “The opportunity to learn,” he says. For someone who learnt Ansible through this pursuit, to end up writing playbooks in Ansible was a true learning peak. While automation today has the aura of being transformational, there is a constant undercurrent of skepticism that every automation initiative needs to deal with. And for the MicroBots this was no exception. Convincing the customer that a bot can do an engineer’s job was the first challenge says Vishal. And when you show value it’s easy to see reason. Today, not just customers but analysts also find our offering compelling. And with a target of a BOT Library of 150 bots across use cases in the next year, what lies ahead for Vishal is exciting. Outside of work, Vishal loves a good road trip and is a self-appointed webmaster for his wife’s fashion jewelry platform, also becoming an e-commerce expert through the gig. When someone’s so gifted everything seems to easy. Vishal Dilip Sanghi This Digital Warrior has been the champion for the development of BOTs across Microland. These BOTs have contributed significantly to the digital transformation journey of the Microland delivery teams by automating a number of manual processes.”
