That’s the level of simplification with which he explains his desire to automate the automatable. And when you are blessed with a client that is not fond of manual processes, it makes it even better. The result: A platform to execute over 45,000 operations across 120 different services from set-up to availability. “If we wanted to bring up more services, the platform will set up the environment in a few seconds,” explains Pradeep. That’s the level of automation he has enabled. Pradeep’s “Deployment-Platform-as-a-Service” (DPaaS) platform is loaded with a number of capabilities that make life easier. The platform takes care of updates and upgrades on Cloud Migration and helps engineers track progress with no compromise on security. The deployment cycle window has been reduced by 70% and that has made a big difference. The 70 to 80 change requests that were addressed from 8 pm to 4 am are now completed in 2 hours, before 10 pm, allowing the team to invest in improvements and enhancements. Sometimes, even brilliance has to wait in order to shine. Pradeep too had to wait. This platform was seen as a potential conflict with some existing activities. After a round of clarifications and convincing, the platform was “official” inducted into service for the infrastructure team. There’s a never-say-die attitude that defines Pradeep. It was this attitude that held him in good stead as he waited to find the right opportunity to present his case. And finally the opportunity came in the form of Ellie Mae’s “Lunch-and-Learn” sessions. Pradeep did a live demo with over 100 engineers in one such sessions and found enthusiastic acceptance for his automation platform. Built in less than a month, Pradeep’s DPaaS platform encouraged new business opportunities for Microland within Ellie Mae and is becoming a reference point for other projects focused on deployment.
