Internal Circulation Only 34 Finding nirvana inmanufacturing “A majority of customers know they need to invest in digital transformation but don’t know where to start,” is how Lalita pulls the paint off a much-touted space. Yes, she knew what she was talking about. The “blank slate” strategy to figure out what was needed in a factory wasn’t going to work. And her strategy—create blueprints that are halfway ready to deploy with room for customizations across use-cases in manufacturing, utilities and pharma. Traditionally kept in-house the IoT systems focused on moving the IT transformational agenda and came with a huge ask on trust. And that’s been our sweet spot too. Simplicity in solutioning is a great thing, and Lalita’s focus has been to drive just that. The idea to do pilots and not POCs meant that we weren’t “exploring” or “experimenting” with IoT, but instead were “executing” it. This strategy was in stark contrast to the long drawn out engagement format of the leaders in the space. For once, our tactical approach and focus on execution and results augured so much better for us. Clients like TRL Krosaki, New Balance and Vikram Solar, could clearly see our focus on results where the tech was only an enabler. As part of the early IIoT team, Lalita’s greatest glory happened as she conceptualized a set of 5 smart factory solutions on the PTC ThinkWorx platform. “A living blueprint” is what she likes to call them. She also successfully conquered the Azure frontier whilst solidifying engagements with CISCO. In the blink of an eye, we had transitioned to be a vendor neutral IIoT services company. Considering our relative newness to the space, that is a stature that’s not easy to get. The beautiful thing about IoT is how it translates into our day to day. For someone as busy as her “Interneting” the world, a personal robot is very much on the bucket list. Is it going to be Aido, Alpha 2 or Zenbo… we’ll soon know! “There’s something very exciting about Microland that gets me to work every day,” she says. And when people like Lalita turn up, every day is a special day. Lalita Nair This Digital Warrior created a unique proposition on the Thingworx platform from Microland’s partner, PTC Inc. for remote monitoring and issue detection for manufacturing units. This emerged as one of the flagship solutions of Microland IIoT business and a door opener for several client conversations.”
