Ashwani, who is from Kashmir, lives in Bangalore and works from home, has a mission in life: Get rid of manual effort! In his previous job at Accenture, his focus was on monitoring tools and life was a drag. “When I came to Microland, things changed,” he says. “I met good people, and found great opportunities.” That’s why, he says, he loves Microland. Here, “you open your hands and grab things. There are no restrictions.” One such opportunity he grabbed was at Computacenter. He saw the L1 team here go to each server, log in, go to the backed up log files and send them to the client. All day long, they went “click, click, click”. So he automated the process using PowerShell scripts, liberating the L1 team from 45 minutes to two hours of tedium each day. “If I was in their place, I would have expected the same,” says Ashwani. “I would want someone to save me from the click, click, click!” The good part is that the L1 team got other tasks to perform and use their capabilities in ways that were useful and made them happy. “My colleagues are also motivated now. My success has encouraged them,” says Raina who loves to see positive energy around him. Seeing that Raina is adept at automating processes, his clients too have made requests. They wanted him to automate the process of checking services on a server. They wanted automated alerts instead of interacting with people. So Raina developed a VB script to check services and trigger mails to the client. Now, we are guessing, he is waiting with open hands to grab the next process to automate! Until then, his passion for cooking with a specialty in Kashmiri dishes, keep his family happy. Raina stays busy with work but wants to learn Python. His single-biggest problem is that the test server is offline, in the office lab—and he is stuck at home, thanks to the pandemic. But we doubt if this will keep him down for long.
